phases-thumbPHASE ONE:
Relief of Immediate Pain

The most common symptom of our patients is pain. Usually, the pain affects your activities, your work & your lifestyle. You are seeking relief of pain. We also seek pain relief for you, but we also seek to eliminate the cause of the problem, so that you can actually get well too.

At the early stage of an injury, there is inflammation and swelling, and the initial treatment is directed toward reducing the inflammation & decreasing the pain. This begins the healing process. The initial treatment also includes ice therapy, gentle and safe electro-therapy, cold laser therapy, spinal decompression therapy and spinal, joint & muscle mobilization. This phase of care may last from 1 to 3 months, depending upon your particular condition, your general health and how long the condition has persisted.

phases-thumb3PHASE TWO:
Restoration

After the pain has been addressed, we concentrate on restoring normal joint & muscle function, decreasing scar tissue and fibrosis, and increasing motion in your joints. This phase may last about 4-6 weeks.
PHASE THREE:
Rehabilitation

Once you are out of pain and you have a more normal range of motion, we begin the final phase to rehabilitate and strengthen your previously injured muscles, ligaments & tendons. We continue with flexibility training and mobilization of course, but also focus on strengthening and conditioning as well.  We have you perform isotonic exercises and isometric exercises. You will also be given a home exercise program. This phase may last from 3 weeks to 12 months, depending upon the severity of the injury.

 PHASE FOUR:   Maintenance

Patients entering the Maintenance Phase of Care will take all of the knowledge they have acquired in Phases One through Three and apply it.  Our goal is to provide our patients with the tools they need to maintain their health, thereby avoiding a recurrence of injury.  We will teach you how to apply this knowledge on a day-to-day basis and integrate it into your lives.
